Last updated: 27 August 2026
These terms should be read together with the quotation, booking confirmation and any Conditions of Carriage expressly incorporated into the booking.
1. About Us
JBY Couriers Ltd ("JBY Couriers", "we", "us", "our") is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14688170). Registered office: Salcey Green Farm, Unit 1 Forest Road, Hanslope, Milton Keynes, MK19 7DE.
These Terms and Conditions govern all bookings, quotations, and services provided by JBY Couriers Ltd. By requesting a quotation or placing a booking, you agree to be bound by these terms.
2. Quotations and Bookings
All quotations are provided subject to vehicle and driver availability at the time of booking confirmation. A quotation does not constitute a guaranteed booking until confirmed in writing by JBY Couriers.
Prices quoted are based on the information provided at the time of enquiry. Any material change to the load, route, timing, or access requirements may result in a revised quotation.
Out-of-hours, weekend, and bank holiday services are available subject to availability. Any applicable additional charges will be clearly stated in the quotation.
3. Our Services
JBY Couriers operates its own Mercedes Sprinter Luton van fleet for dedicated transport services across mainland UK. When additional capacity, specialist equipment or a vehicle above 3.5 tonnes is required, we may arrange an approved, licensed and insured transport partner as part of the confirmed service. JBY Couriers remains the customer's main point of contact throughout the booking. The use of a transport partner does not create a direct contract between the customer and that transport partner unless expressly agreed in writing.
Services include, but are not limited to:
- Same-day and next-day courier delivery
- Luton van delivery with tail lift
- 2-Man delivery and room-of-choice placement
- Bulky, oversized, and pallet delivery
- Night, weekend, and bank holiday delivery (subject to availability)
- Multi-drop transport
- Contract and overflow transport
- Warehouse and pallet storage
4. Prohibited and Restricted Goods
JBY Couriers will not carry the following goods under any circumstances:
- Firearms, ammunition, or weapons of any kind
- Illegal drugs or controlled substances
- Explosives, flammable liquids, or hazardous materials (unless separately agreed in writing with appropriate documentation)
- Live animals
- Human remains
- Counterfeit or stolen goods
- Temperature-controlled or regulated pharmaceutical products (unless separately agreed)
- Any goods whose carriage would be unlawful
You warrant that all goods tendered for carriage comply with these restrictions. JBY Couriers reserves the right to refuse or return any consignment found to contain prohibited goods, and you will remain liable for all costs incurred.
5. Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring goods are adequately and appropriately packaged for transport
- Providing accurate collection and delivery addresses, contact details, and access information
- Ensuring a responsible person is available at collection and delivery points at the agreed time
- Declaring the accurate nature, weight, and dimensions of goods at the time of booking
- Obtaining any necessary permits or consents for the carriage of specialist goods
JBY Couriers accepts no liability for loss or damage arising from inadequate packaging, inaccurate information, or failure to comply with these responsibilities.
6. Waiting Time
Unless otherwise stated in the quotation, the first 30 minutes of waiting time at the collection or delivery point are free of charge. Further waiting time may be charged at £25 plus VAT for each additional 30-minute period or part thereof. Waiting time caused by JBY Couriers will not be charged.
7. Liability and Insurance
Subject to any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, JBY Couriers' liability for physical loss of or damage to goods in transit will not exceed the lower of:
- (a) the proven value of the physical loss or damage;
- (b) the reasonable repair or replacement cost;
- (c) the applicable limit under any Conditions of Carriage incorporated into the booking; or
- (d) £10,000 per consignment.
Customers must declare before booking any consignment with a value exceeding £10,000. Additional cover is not provided unless confirmed by JBY Couriers in writing before collection.
We are not liable for:
- Indirect or consequential loss of any kind
- Loss of profit, revenue, or business opportunity
- Delay caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control (including traffic, weather, road closures, or vehicle breakdown)
- Damage to goods that were inadequately packaged
- Loss or damage to prohibited or undeclared goods
8. Claims Notification
Any visible loss or damage should be recorded on the proof of delivery and reported to JBY Couriers in writing as soon as reasonably possible and, in any event, within 24 hours of delivery. A claim notification must include the booking reference, description of the goods, photographs, evidence of value, weight of the affected goods and details of the alleged loss or damage. Failure to notify us within this period may prejudice our ability to investigate the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.
9. Payment Terms
Unless different terms are agreed in writing, approved business-account invoices are payable within 30 calendar days of the invoice date. Non-account customers may be required to make payment before collection or delivery.
Late payment may result in suspension of services and the application of statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
All prices are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated. VAT will be charged at the applicable rate.
10. Storage Services
Storage is subject to available capacity and written booking confirmation. The customer must provide an accurate description, quantity, dimensions, weight and value of all goods to be stored.
The following goods are not accepted for storage unless specifically agreed in writing: hazardous, illegal, perishable, temperature-controlled, flammable or otherwise unsuitable goods.
Storage charges and payment dates will be stated in the quotation. Access and collection must be arranged in advance. Goods may only be released to an authorised person.
JBY Couriers may exercise applicable legal rights concerning unpaid storage charges, but will not claim powers beyond those permitted by law.
The applicable goods-in-storage insurance limit, policy excesses and exclusions will be confirmed in writing before the booking. Customers should maintain appropriate insurance where the value of stored goods exceeds JBY's confirmed storage-cover limit.
Consequential loss, loss of profit and business interruption arising from storage are excluded to the extent legally permitted. Procedures for damaged, uncollected or abandoned goods will comply with applicable law.
11. Cancellation
Cancellations must be made by telephone or email as soon as possible. Cancellations made after a driver has been dispatched or within 2 hours of the agreed collection time may be subject to a cancellation charge. The applicable charge will be communicated at the time of cancellation.
12. Force Majeure
JBY Couriers shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, road closures, traffic incidents, industrial action, or vehicle breakdown. We will endeavour to notify you as soon as practicable and to make alternative arrangements where possible.
13. Data Protection
JBY Couriers processes personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
14. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
15. Changes to These Terms
JBY Couriers reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The current version will always be published on this page. Continued use of our services following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
